Kevin O'Brien, Ph.D., ABPP-CN
Dr. Kevin O’Brien is a board certified, clinical neuropsychologist specializing in the neurocognitive and emotional assessment and treatment of clients with brain injury, neurological disorders, dementia, and neurovascular disease.
He provides evaluations for clients in clinical settings, as well as for those involved in the medical legal system. Dr. O’Brien also provides psychotherapeutic and psycho-educational services for neurological patients and their families.
Dr. O’Brien has been in private practice in the valley since 1996, and is one of the founding members of Arizona Neuropsychology, P.C. He is currently on staff at Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn and is an adjunct faculty in the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University.
Dr. O’Brien received his doctorate in clinical neuropsychology from the University of Victoria in British Columbia. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation at the Barrow Neurological Institute and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.
Following his postdoctoral training, Dr. O’Brien worked at the Barrow Neurological Institute for nine years, first in the outpatient brain-injury rehabilitation program and then in the inpatient neurorehabilitation program. Dr. O’Brien obtained board certification in clinical neuropsychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology in 1997.
Dr. O’Brien is a member of several organizations including the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society, American Psychological Association, Arizona Psychological Association, Mental Health and Elder Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona, Brain Injury Association of Arizona, and the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
